Elegance, grace, romance, femininity, splendour and a dash of ambiguity. Zac Posen showed it all.
The American fashion designer recently announced that he is closing his eponymous fashion house. Here is a tribute to all that he taught us about beauty.
Zachary Posen was born and raised in New York in a Jewish family of a painter and a corporate attorney. Since early age, he showed an interest in fashion. He attended a private school in Brooklyn. He studied at Parsons School of Design in New York and did an internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute before moving to London to attend Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
In 2002, Posen created a dress for Naomi Campbell. The rest is history. His New York Fashion Week debut was with the Spring-Summer 2002 collection (Zac was 22 years old!). After seeing the models on the runway, The New York Times announced that a star was born. The star gained recognition with his elegant and glamorous designs.
Some of the famous actors Posen has dressed are Cameron Diaz, Nathalie Portman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Winslet and Sarah Jessica Parker. In 2008, he designed a collection for Target and in 2014, he went for a line with bridal gowns.
