An eco-fashion project was created under the name Green Fashion Week (GFW) and it is already happening for the 7th time. GFW is a non-profit international event for sustainable fashion design, organized with the GD Major’s and FSA’s support and is under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea.
The last edition of Green Fashion Week was presented from 9th till 13th May this year in Dubai in collaboration with Arab Fashion Week. The collaborating team showed 18 international designers from 13 different countries, including UAE, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, USA and more countries from across Asia and Europe, who focus their energy on designing and producing eco-friendly clothes, shoes and accessories. Their products are made with sustainable and upcycled materials with care for the environment, while maintaining high quality. The styles represent the dedication of the designers to the green idea in the fashion industry.
The show took place on a ship named after Queen Elizabeth II (QE2), designed in 1969 for the transatlantic service from the Queen’s home port of Southampton, UK.

Nowadays, the ship is operating as a floating hotel in Dubai (since April 2018) and it has hosted Green Fashion Week and its designers for their green fashion shows. QE2 has been restored in the original style and royal glamour which attracted more than 15 000 visitors during GFW.
